Universal or custom-fit mats? A universal mat is shaped for an average footwell. It is cheap and quick, but it will not cover the floor edge to edge, it does not use the factory clip points, and it can slide. How to get a better fit. Push the front mat fully back against the seat rail so it does not creep towards the pedals, and check after a few drives that nothing sits under the brake or accelerator.
